Thinnakara Island

Thinnakara is a tiny island Just 8 km northeast of Agatti. It is located right opposite Bangaram Island and the island Shares the same logon and coralline. It is an uninhabited island and you can be one of very few lucky visitors to enjoy the luxury of virgin beaches just for you. Thinnakara has one of the best landscape with white-sand beaches, corals and with view of water as far as your eyesight reaches with no human interference.

The island is also considered a paradise for those who love diving and water sports. Due to its clear water and rich marine life, it is ideal for snonkelling, Scube diving and kayaking. Besides coral reefs, you can explore a large variety of tropical fish, turtles and octopus.

    How to get there: Air India operates flight from Kochi to Agatti every day and then by normal boat to Thinnakara Island.

    Food & Cuisine : The cuisine is mainly Keralite. Tuna fish is mostly available here so you can have it grilled, baked or fried. Spiced coconut-rich Vegetarian & Non vegetarian food. Curried, fried and barbecued fish.

    Tourist Season : October - May.

    Consumption of Alcohol: Consumption of Alcohol is not allowed.

    Things not to do: Picking up Corals is a punishable crime.

The charming isolated Thinnakara Island is situated just opposite side of Bangaram Island and share the same lagoon. Thinnakara is a tiny teardrop shaped island which lies 8 km northeast from Agatti, where the airport is located.The only accommodation is non-air-conditioned tent.
